Personal, self-employed and corporate tax returns
Dockweiler prepares and files tax returns for individuals, self-employed people and small corporations across Penticton, Oliver, Osoyoos and Summerland. Because we also keep books, we can see the whole year rather than just the final numbers, which tends to make filing calmer and more accurate.
Personal returns (T1)
For most people, the 2026 personal return is due April 30, 2027, and any balance owing is due the same day. We prepare T1 returns for employees, retirees, people with rental or investment income, and households with a mix of all three. CRA important dates for individuals.
Self-employed returns
If you or your spouse or common-law partner carried on a business in 2026, your return is not due until June 15, 2027. Any balance owing is still due April 30, 2027. That six-week gap catches a lot of people, because interest on an unpaid balance starts after April 30 even though the return itself is not late. CRA business and self-employed deadlines.
Self-employed returns include a statement of business or professional activities that sets out your income and expenses. Contractors, consultants, trades, farm operators and people with a side business all file this way. Having the books in order before spring means the return is mostly a matter of carrying the numbers across.
Instalments
If your net tax owing is more than $3,000 for 2026 and was also more than $3,000 in either 2025 or 2024, CRA may ask you to pay instalments. They are due March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15. Farmers and fishers whose main income is from farming or fishing have one instalment date, December 31. CRA on required instalments.
Corporate returns (T2)
Incorporated businesses file a T2 return within six months of their year-end, so a December 31, 2026 year-end means filing by June 30, 2027. Payment is due sooner. A Canadian-controlled private corporation that claimed the small business deduction and stayed under its business limit generally has three months, so March 31, 2027 for a December year-end. Other corporations have two months. CRA on the balance-due day.
We prepare T2 returns for small incorporated trades, professionals, wineries and holding companies, along with the T4 and T5 slips that often go with them. Those slips are due by March 1, 2027 for the 2026 year. CRA information return dates.
